How much weight would I be carrying if I got a job unloading trucks at Wal-Mart?

  • Ok so my friend from church unloads trucks from Wal-Mart and I have been looking for a job and he talked to his boss and he said I basically have the job I should just wait for the telephone call for the Interview. So I would be unloading trucks for the X-mas holiday and I forgot to ask my friend.
But how much weight would I be carrying in the boxes??????
Also would I have to put the things on the shelves or would I just give the boxes to the stockers??????

    Thanks.

  • Usually with loading and unloading Jobs they ask for a requirement to be able to lift 75 -100 lbs. Good luck!

  • Cory, honey, I'm glad you got a job and I hope its only part time till Christmas rush is over. Saying that I mean you are much more than a man that unloads crates btw. You are much more capable than breaking the back so to speak. Plus they should have machines that will unload the heavy stuff, if not, don't be afraid to step up and say, hey, its my back please don't break it. Walmarts are such big stores that when they opened the one in our area the kids wore rolling skates to get around in. I laughed at that and told them I needed a pair of wheels to see everything they had. Little did I know I would have a mini stroke and now I have to roll around in a electric chair while I'm in there. But I usually ask one of my sons to go alone with a regular cart so I can fill it up. I love Wally World cause there stuff is cheap and people there are nice. I try to give a compliment to an employee at least once a month when they go out of their way to help me instead of being that person who always makes time to complain about something or someone. I know any job is not easy and your starting at the bottom and could get hurt. Let me know how it goes cause you know I worry. Have you got your drivers license yet? That's a handy thing to have and don't forget about us in the Y&R world. I look forward to your spoilers each week. Love you Reece

I stopped at a road side Hog Sale, there were many trucks lined up, all carrying remain unemployed, but clothes are cheap at Wal-Mart etc so no one is too upset.

  • here in ontario canada the reasonable amount is 40 pounds. thats what any employee is expected to be able to carry at any time. however this fluctuates based upon weight. they added guidlines incase you had a little person or anemic person in your emply.

but saying this is all null. cause the truth is...... if you think you might hurt yourself carrying something DONT!!! and if walmart likes its employess having backs and being able to do thier jobs theyll respect the time it takes to get a second pair of hands. get it? i hope. its your back. you lease it to them.. make sure they return it in the same condition you leased it to them in.

  • hey cory..congrats on the job,my son works at walmart and he is a stocker but he also unloads trucks when they are shorthanded the amount of weight varies depending what they are unloading but it is anywhere from 50 to 100 pounds, usually the unloaders don't stock the shelves but that too is not always true just depends on how many people they have working or what needs done..good luck!!!
