Just flew JFK-BOS-ORD yesterday and I must say that the AA terminal in BOS was the most horrible AA experience I have ever had. Rude and cold (and sometimes just downright scary) gate agents and FA's, trash strewn everywhere throughout the terminal, and only one place beyond security to get food. The food line was almost as long as the security line, as there was nothing stocked and available. I ended up not eating at all until 8 PM that evening. I know it was an EXTREMELY busy day yesterday, but it is still unacceptable.
To top it off, I received my rollerbag at ORD covered in tarmac soot and with an obviously irreperable dent. The baggge service folks at ORD (which were most slovenly in appearance, by the way), were not helpful and gave me a list of places to "repair" my obviously totaled bag. No apology, no offer to get my soot-stained pants dry-cleaned. I had a similar experience with NW, and a voucher was issued on the spot. It seems like AA wants to make it very difficult for people to be reimbursed when handlers play rugby with one's bags.
I love AA, but I think I'll fly different metal to BOS next time. As for the bagage situation, I am open to suggestion as to my next course of action. Luckily, I haven't had anything like this happen to me on AA before. Air Travel Consumer Report:: those with at least one percent of total domestic scheduled-service passenger. revenues. AA 354 ORD-LGA 1700 31 87.10 64 38. UA 505 FLL-ORD 1215 31 87.10 64 62 http://airconsumer.ost.dot.gov/Reports/2000/0010ATCR.PDFHOME |
Actually, I'm at EXP (just crossed 100,000 miles today) out of BOS and I quite like it.. however, my experience is usually that I check in at the Admiral's club.... and I never check luggage...as far as the terminal itself, I actually passed through ORD for the first time ever (i know, strange) and felt that the AC there was a bit run down actually ...
I would like to tell you that you could find a better choice of metal at BOS, but alas I'm afraid they are all bad. I've put in over 50K miles from BOS this year and the experience is typically unpleasant. The only thing worse than terminal B is E (international) which they have seemingly been renovating forever.
Part of the problem is not really AA fault, there is limited room for security screening stations and as an older terminal also no room for restaurants and other services. Logan Airport is run by MASSPort, a quasi governmental organization that is run by HACKS--government appointees who know more about collecting political patronage than managing a modern airport. Until that changes things will not get better at Logan.
As for your bag, I can virtually guarantee that the damage occured at BOS. BOS has the worst baggage handling of any AA city in my opinion. Average wait time for bags is 30-45 minutes and damage seems frequent.
I'm certain AA could make the experience somewhat better. But in the end, you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear.
