As an attempt at a partner, (and because I needed something for my store) I ordered out of the Voyagers Inflight Catalog.
Now the catalog said Double Miles for purchases over $100. Since my purchase would only be about $25, I asked the CSR taking my order SPECIFICALLY if I would get "Single Miles" for a purchase under $100. She said "Yes, we give one mile per dollar" So I went ahead with the order.
Last week when the miles had not posted (after about 3 weeks) I emailed Customer Service at ShopVoyager.com.
Today I received an email saying they give no miles under $100 and Double Miles for over $100. I politely replied that the CSR said that I did and would they honor the verbal promise from their CSR.
I also cc'd the email to AAdvantage CS, pointing out that Double Miles indicates that Single Miles are available and that Double Miles is not the same as two miles per dollar over $100. I asked that they might look into "policing" their partners since the way that partners treat AAdvantage Members, reflects on AAdvantage as well.
Not sure what will happen. This moves me back to 17 confirmed and 1 waiting. Guess it is time to buy some t-shirts from both EB and LLB.
I'll keep you posted as to the outcome.
As an update, today I received an email from ShopVoyager.com saying that even though the CSR who told me that I would receive miles was new and therefore mistaken, that they would credit my account the 20 or so miles for the purchase.
But more interesting was the email that I received from AAdvantage Customer Service. They said that ShopVoyager.com does not participate in the AAdvantage Program! Even though there is a copy of the Catalog in every seat back on every plane that AA has! Geez, what type of people are they hiring nowadays as CSR.
I really hold no hope that these miles will ever post. I am also waiting to see if AAdvantage redefines partner before the end of the promotion to say that AOLAAdvantage and all of their merchants are only one partner and that they wanted us to either Fly or Stay with "partner airlines" or "partner hotels"
Such is life.

I really dont see this happening as it was cause such a brouhaha to the likes of which AA probably has never seen....although come to think of it, it probably wouldnt surprise me if they at least tried to get away with it...
Voyagers, Skymall, Sharper Image, Brookstone, Hammacher Shlammeker etc. are all too over priced for me. Most anytime I find an item in one those catalogs, it's usually available elsewhere for less. (The exception may be if a company has an "exclusive" on the item.
I too, would not mind having a few partners for insurance. But I think there are cheaper ways of accomplishing it.
As the promised update on the Voyager's Collection as a partner on 20/20. Today the miles actually posted!! And they were double miles even though the purchase was under $100.
So I guess it pays to ask.
Now if I can get Choice Hotels and Eddie Bauer to post I will have 20!!!
Its really a shame that there has been so many problems with this promo from the start. This has been the most poorly run promo I think I have ever seen. The right hand doesnt know what the left hand is doing and we in the end are the ones to suffer for it...and AAdvantage really shows a lack of concern in my opinion by not responding to peoples emails among other things...I for one feel your frustration mapsmith, and if I wasnt so close to the end of it, I would just say the heck with it already, it just isnt worth all this aggravation. It should be a lot more then 20,000 miles for putting up with this kind of crap IMHO...

While sitting in the flying metal tube the other day, I was considering ordering from their catalog as an "extra" partner just so I could be sure of making the 20 partners.
Now I know, better to spend my money buying a t-shirt from someone else.
