PlaneBusiness Message Boards Closing

Welcome to:zjsk.com

  • I know that I'm not the only one here on FlyerTalk who has been following this airline industry forum. Sad news. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
    http://www.planebusiness.com/boardclosure.html

  • I too am I daily Planebusiness reader/lurker, and I will be sad to see them go. I concur, however,m that some of the stuff on that board (posted by PILOTS no less) is truly horrendous and inflammatory. No subject has caused more venom than the integration of the TWA pilots into the AA seniority list! Based upon these outrageous rantings, I'm glad I don't fly AA, as I'd be afraid of having some of these pilots controlling my plane!

If you REALLY want to read an intersting website, check out the PPRUNE site at http://www.pprune.org/cgibin/ultimatebb.cgi. This is a British web site for airline pilots, but it's still very interesting reading. You wouldn't believe some of the horrible things they have to say about Singapore Airlines. There are also lots of postings about Australia and New Zealand. It's also a very un-PC sort of place. They refer to flight attendants as "hosties." http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

  • Seems like a lot of FTers were monitoring PlaneBusiness like I did. I only ever lurked the AA forum.

That last sentence in the letter was about the AA forum "antics". Remember, the posters over there were basically AA employees - from 30+ year Sr. Captains to 2+ year baggage handlers.

I just could not believe what I was reading over there from those people. The "flame wars" we used to see here at FT were nothing compared to what went on over there. NO COMPARISON! They actually suspended the AA forum for most of the month of September it was that bad.

Gave me a very BIG pause considering the mental "age" of those folks, as they were either driving my airplane, or fixing it.

Looked in on the AA forum yesterday - SOS!

    dAAvid -

ps - please do NOT invite PlaneBusiness posters over here.

  • FYI - I clicked on the site mentioned about and got a 404. Then I went to the home page which listed the forums.

It seems to be able to read any of the forums you must register with info to show you work for an airline.

    Hmmmmm.

  • I too am a reader/poster over on PB, and will miss it.

There was some real nasty stuff posted on there that made reading certain boards a waste of time. But the information from pilots and other insiders was certainly worth reading, and it will be missed. I'll be spending more time here and also migrate to usaviation.com.

Hmmmmm..... kinda like FT when one certain Australian was hanging around http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

  • danville 1k -

It is/was MUCH WORSE than last years experience with our OZ friend. I mean so bad it would just blow your mind away. The flame wars on FT last year have absolutely NO COMPARISON to the level of venom/very personal attacking/etc. that goes on over at the PlaneBusiness AA forum.

Morrissey is quite correct about some of the Pilots at both AA & TW LLC exhibiting truly "irrational" actions. That's why I put in my earlier post the comment about the "mental age" of those folks. Remember - I am a dedicated AA pax. I just hope I never have a flight deck crew where the Captain is one of those AA mental cases and the FO is one of the TW LLC equivalents. Literally, could mean a fight in the cockpit with the door barred from the inside!

And just as bad as the flight crew members are, the ground maintenance crew are equally as bad. It is only the FAs that are half way "sane" in their postings.

  • Was just over on PlaneBusiness watching them close down the forums even as I was browsing through them. Yes, some are going over to USAviation, others are migrating to Capt Jack's.

When I first logged into PB, I found that every forum had the same "newest" subject showing. It was a posting from a "pilot bob" with a very crude and rude 'subject' about the AMF.

Right to the very end they were still up to their nastiness over there. I can only guess that the guy hacked into that bbs to get the same subject onto every forum at the same time.

  • A lot of posts had a very un-collegiate tone, let me put it that way. But I am sorry to see them go.

I doubt whether most people will pay $147 per year. So many content sites are in their predicament.

(Dare I use the "P" word that caused Goodwin all that trouble http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif)

  • Very sad development indeed. I have been a faithful reader of the Planebusiness BB and the not so daily Banter for a few years now. Is anyone thinking about subscribing to the Banter now? It looks alot of the posters are going to go to the new BB linked below.

  • The discussions were much more intense because they dealt with people's livelihood (e.g., their jobs!), not just the vocation of collecting miles. Yes, some of it did get nasty, but much of that may have been related to the nature of union agreements, seniority, and a shrinking workforce.

Yes, the PPRUNE site has some "Airline Specific Private Forums" which can only be accessed by members of that specific airline. However, anyone can read the all the other forums found there. Most of the good stuff is in the "Rumours & News" forum. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
