Were currently in a war; do you really think basic training is easy? LOL... It's a marketing scheme to get you to enlist. Since were at war people aren't sure of joining, so they offer bonuses and spread stories of it being easy. Once you join your in for a rude awakening
I understand were a nation of followers and if someone say's something - others tend to follow. But were in a WAR people! Use your damn brain here. Do you think were training weak soldiers to fight this war? Do you think were training to loose this war??
The Marines on the other hand must market there training as tough (not saying it's not) but if they didn't have a upper hand marketing wise noone would join due to Army offering so many benifits.
So why do people; mostly wives/girlfriend/mom's ect... of Marines, or civillians who have never been through training claim such nonsense? Just because you follow the teachings of someone doesn't make it true.
It's hard while you are there but looking back on it, it wasn't that hard. It's only hard because you're not used to it. You should sign up instead of coming here crying about everything.
If you prepare for it then its not as hard. If you go there being unfit and an a** then you have to worry about both the training and your fitness and believe me your superiors will make sure your not an a** when you get out. So yeah, just make sure your well over the basic requirements for your job and be the "grey man"
I spent almost 7 years in the Army as an Infantryman with two servings of OIF and recently ETS'd. There is no doubt in my mind that recruiters are letting people in the Army that they normally wouldn't, solely to fulfill their quotas or "make mission". These same people that wouldn't normally even be considered are also being allowed to graduate Basic Training. Now, I don't remember a particular instance where someone got their *** handed to them for recklessly endangering another person's life in combat, but lowering standards is a very dangerous road to go down.
The choice is: keep standards high for the Army and not fulfill quotas, or open Pandora's Box.
Even though there is nice bonus' the fact of the matter is these kids know they are going to war. That says alot for a force that is all volunteer. And Its the ultimate adventure for a young mind still going through that "It wont happen to me phase"
Ive thought about the psychology of it and have come to the conclusion that why not the young men and women? They have less vested.
I can vouch for the Marines, They say its hard because it is. I can also vouch for the Army I am a Drill Sergeant. The Army is easier IF you have a pouge MOS. But these are a different group of youngsters that we are training. More technology savvy. Im just an old Grunt, and If you gave me some of the gear that they have now, I would be looking at it like a chimp.
Give our Military credit, they know what they are doing and how to train Marines, Soldiers, Airmen, and Sailors. Leave the training to the Military. Because if you haven't been there you don't know sh!t
and your point is?
who cares, your probaly some whiney cnt who failed basic
you dont know jack sht about the military
get a life
