If the reason is powerful enough you will get through the rough waters and not quit. For example a close friend of mine started his online business because he was laid off from his job. He devoted his life to his company (over 20 years) but the company moved to a country where they could pay less to their employees. I asked him what drove him and he told me his daughter. You see his daughter has down syndrome, without the benefits his job offered he could not afford to pay for her health care. He told me every time he felt like giving up, the image of his daughter not having the best health care available kept him going.
