I got my 1200 pts. cert. for free night in the mail.
What can I say? After two miserable stays back to back, one in Seoul, South Korea and one in Newark NJ, my account still does not reflect the points, much less the free night  I was elated for a while when they comped me Diamond status at my request, but now I know better!
As the second of my two qualifying stays hadn't posted, I called GCC. Lo and behold, Stay one posted as a VISA stay, not MC, despite having used the MC, the credit card receipt saying MASTERCARD spelled out, and having received my bill from MC. Just something to check when you don't receive your certificate.

Only exactly ONE of the zillions of BWs in ALL of California (one in Chino, the town derided on Fox's THE O.C.) is available at 800 points.
So this is a free night in Chino only (if you're in CA and not going to be travelling outside it), and I bet at precious few desirable locations in other states too.
About the only way that I can see that this would be useful is if you already have 400 points sitting around (or will get to that with these two stays) and can then get one of the 400-point add-on vouchers, which in combination with the 800-point voucher can be used at 1200 point BWs (of which there are many more, tho they're still typically in only certain locations only).
