The Sydney Morning Herald Blogs: Lost in Transit:: with US$1 (twin shared) first night in a selected range of hotel, bonus free overbooked so we were asked to wait 2 hours for another Emirates flight to OZ. http://blogs.smh.com.au/lostintransit/archives/2006/06/flying_honours.htmlHOME | Will be traveling on OZ F later this year, and have planned some long stopovers, does OZ offer free hotel room for premium pax with long stopovers like SQ?
thanks for the replies, but I'll be stopping for 23 hours in HKG and ICN, arriving in HKG on SQ, departing to HKG on OZ, then leaving ICN on OZ as well, so I'd rather go into the respective cities and spend sometime there.
I don't understand this routing. You will arrive in HKG on SQ, and then depart to HKG on OZ?!?!?!?....from where? And how are you getting to that city from HKG? Can you please give complete itinerary (i.e. carrier, flights, dates, city pairs, etc.)
I know OZ offers (or used to offer) hotel accomodation in SEL when connecting to/from USA gateways from/to S.E. Asia or Japan (all flights coded & operated by OZ). There had to have been an involuntary connection of at least 6 hours; RT airport transfers and a meal were included.

Well, if your needs aren't high, the 1st and biz class lounge has shower rooms and sleep rooms. More than comfortable enough for 12 hours or so.

Mr Roboto speaks of involuntary layovers of more than 6 hrs. Looks to me like the 23hrs layover is your own choice to allow you to visit the city, in which case you would presumably not be entitled to it. What's your onward destination from ICN? OZ does provides hotel room in ICN for CGK-x/ICN-LAX vv (in F/J) with long transit time.
If your long transit time is a result of your own choice, I don't think OZ will provide anything.
OZ offer it very rarely

sorry, I have a mistake in my routing. I'll arrive to HKG on SQ, and depart for ICN on OZ, with a 23 hr layover, forced in my itn. Then I will have another forced 23 hr layover in ICN, before my flight out of ICN to LAX, on OZ.
I forced the long layovers so I can go into the cities and do some shopping/sight seeing. Just want to see if OZ will pay for the hotel I'll need because I'm flying F. Its been posted on FT that SQ provides vouchers for a hotel room in some nice hotels if your layover is long. Just wanted to know if OZ does.
From your post, it sounds like they did (and may still do). How were these perks offered? Did they ask at departure or did someone call you before your flight?
I dont believe they do at least I didnt get any word of it on my last F trip on OZ. If your layover is in ICN there is a pretty decent hotel in the terminal and is relatively inexpensive but make sure you make a reservation as it can get full.
Keyword is forced, it seems you scheduled yourself into having a long layover not Asiana forcing you to have the long layover due to a gap in their schedule. I wouldn't expect a free room. If you do get it, post it here so we would all know.
I travel to Korea once or twice a month for work, it's an exciting city.
