If he would have said "Shame on America" instead of "G.D. America", (I ask this because I think that this is what he meant) would it have been different?
Yes, it would have been a lot different.
The context of what he's saying is perfectly fine, but the Goddamn America was just too fiery.
I prefer clear-thinking pastors, like this one who implores us to elect John McCain so foreigners don't start thinking their god is "bigger" than our God:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5fdzji2C... Barack Obama Disowns Rev. Jeremiah Wright: Don't Know Him. Don't :: On Friday, Reverend Wright had his first post-controversy interview on Bill Moyer's Journal. Why do you think that there hasn't been a cure for anything in about 40 years? Wright is making hard for him. In that clip you could see that he was And, for at least once, Rev. Wright IS RIGHT about SOMETHING, http://www.whudat.com/newsblurbs/more/barack_obama_disowns_rev_jeremiah_wright_dont_know_him_1680430081/HOME |
No, just you and losers like Rev. Wright. Strange thing is I thought all along that you angry libs probably agreed with that vile Rev. Wright spewed.
Notice how you're a big hit with the nastiest anti-American nonAmericans on this forum. You got the Aussie, the Canuck (former Brit), the German, they came like flies to sh*t to this question -- Hey, congratulations you and Rev Wright hatemonger on your country just like the nonAmericans. Patterico's Pontifications » Excerpts from Bill Moyers' Interview :: ⠜Moyers asks Wright what he thought when he began to see the sound bites . No matter what you think about Rev. Wright, his analysis of what his sermon . Mr. Wright is a victim of his First Amendment rights ⠓ an interesting defense. Do you know the answer to that question, David? Does Jeremiah Wright? http://patterico.com/2008/04/24/excerpts-from-bill-moyers-interview-of-jeremiah-wright/HOME |
Offense was taken with HOW Reverend Wright expressed himself, many people missed his point in general, the focus remained on those choice words.
What ever happened to freedom of speech?
I agree with Mr Wright because what he said is just the true
maybe was not appropriate the time and how he said it
but still the damn true
Yes, I think he says it strong to get his point across.
I think he is a deeply religious man who thinks we should be treating each other better instead of bombing each other.
Under his words during that sermon was a strong message against hate, and a very strong suggestion that we all do a bit of personal soul searching about where we ourselves stand with God. The Obama-Wright divorce - First Read - msnbc.com:: Apr 30, 2008 Jeremiah Wright Jr., and he made it clear that the preacher does not represent him, . So what do you far-left idiots have to say for yourself now? I think Obama did the right thing with this speech. Or let's see, his judgement isn't so good, who knows what you will come up with this time. http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/04/30/960459.aspxHOME |
About whether we worship the God of love or the God of hate.
Screw it, i'll say it god damn America!
We ship our money off to Iraq - Republicans don't complain.
Mention helping a family who can't get by on $45,000 then all hell breaks loss!
Nice priorities. If we can't help our own the way that many many many NEED the help at a time like this, then god damn America!
Uh, no. Because he is a rabid racist who promotes hate. And what sort of preacher uses God's name in such a way behind the pulpit?
YES!!!!!!!!!!!! Liberation Theology, extant throughout the Americas, has waged many valid critiques of US political policies and political economy. It is Christianity the way it was meant to be . . . none of this "orthodox" dogmatic crap.
I think Wright is trying to motivate people and make them proud of their own heritage so that they do not become victims of racism. He was alive during a time where there was extreme racism, and probably not only is angry about it, but wants to make sure what he went through does not happen to others. Obama knows this, as does all of the members of the congregation. Obama knew that he did good things for the people. Actions speak way louder than words. But some people obviously like to take words literally and run with it. That is the difference between being open minded and not.
I thought he said "God dammed America" not the popular "God Damn America" which is different
Americans don't want truths,
Hey didn't say anything racist. That's what people don't understand. He didn't say "f*ck white people" or anything like that. A lot of what he said was the absolute truth. America isn't perfect, and has done some bad things before. I don't know why calling our country out on some of the things we have done is so controversial. Now, did Wright go to far and was a bit too over-dramatic with it a times? Yes.
I agree with you. Yet, no, it wouldn't have been different. White apologists love to do this judo throw with the term racist and put it back on the victims. America will not ever tolerate being held accountable.
Look at how Jimmy Carter was treated after he gave his so-called "Malaise" speech because he spoke straight with the people. Today if you look back at it, he should be vindicated with his prophetic words.
GO ANTHONY, LAWGIRL AND YADDA, FINALLY people who have brains and UNDERSTANDING.
Heres my question?
Why would someone get bored with doing IT for 10 years?
