i am using the t3ch build, built on june 11, 2006. i can access the public share, with no problem. i'm able to both list and access audio and video files, on the xbox. however, with the protected share, i'm only able to list the files in the directory. when i try to access the video files within, nothing happens. the account-specific access privledges on the share are obviously working, otherwise i wouldn't be able to even see the files. i know that there's no problem with smb shares, in general, because i have one that still runs, beautifully. the file permissions inside that share is invalid.. they don't allow the xbox account to access them.. even thou the share allows it, file permissions must also be set correctly.
absolutely correct. there wasn't even an entry for the xbox account in the file permissions. i added one and things started working. i have no idea how i overlooked that.
thank you!

Heres my question?
Why would someone get bored with doing IT for 10 years?
