I am curious as to the hotel benifits that are extended to elite members of airline frequent flier programs.
I know that for 2000, Continental offers its Silver and Gold members a 'Fast Track to VIP' offer from Hilton. This offer gives Silver HHonors VIP status to those who stay 2 times over a 90 period. Or, if one can rack up 4 stays over that same 90 day period, one receives Gold HHonors VIP status. I read on FT that American Advantage Gold Members receive complimentary Gold level membership in the Loew's First program, free upgrades at MGM Grand, and a special where if you pay with a mastercard, one can receive an upgrade for 75 GBP from the Savoy Group.
Does anyone know what other benifits of this type exist out there?
NW golds get a coporate preferred Starwood membership in SPG and NW platinums get a Gold membership in SPG.
I was supposed to be moved to Starwood's Business Preferred level under the USAir connection, but find that I am Gold (only had 2 stays with them in the last year).
I wonder if this might be due to one of the Amex Platinum programs.
Air Canada Super Elites (top tier) get:
--automatic Delta Hotels Privilege Platinum Status and 3000 bonus miles
--Crowne Plaza Passport to Privilege
--HHonors Gold VIP including 3rd night free certificate
I'm not sure these are that difficult to get by asking the hotel chains?

I'm AMEX Platinum and I just received an offer to be upgraded to Starwood's Gold level because of the AMEX card without having made the normal required stays.

Tie-up with Hyatt perhaps for NW Asia-Pacific members only.
Gold Elite. Log at least thre stays and pay designated rates within the six months after joining Gold Passport, and you will be Platinum and gets 1,000 WP bonus miles. (Not much difference I guess from the on-going Hyatt promotion.)
Platinum Elite. Don't need to stay. You will be automatically GP Platinum after regisration. After the first stay, you get 1,000 WP bonus miles. If you log seven stays or more within the three months after joining GP, you will get Diamond and get 1,000 WP bonus miles.
