I still have one VIP2 left and I am traveling to London roundtrip soon on AA. I know what outbound (from JFK) flight on a Tuesday I am taking, but I will not know my return until that day that I return (on a Friday)
I still can use a VIP2 (expires 11/30/01), right?
What I am planning to do ist book the two flights and upgrade them with the VIP2 (which will be taken at JFK, right) {{Should I ask the agent to make a note that it has already been collected}} and then if I need to change my return flight over at LHR just call up the EXP desk in London (I have heard that this goes to regularreservations, but a higher order??)or ask the agent in the park Avenue Facility to change the flight, will my upgrade still follow me (it should be booked in F, right?) will I be charged a fee? So bascially if this happens the ticket will have to re-issued (BTW, what does that exactly mean) Creating Wealth Without Risk.::

Thanks so much.
Guy,
I have found that as long as you have not started your trip, you can have the ticket reissued and reapply the VIP2 - even for a different itinerary. But once you have started the trip you are out of luck. And (of course) they will no longer resissue you a brand new VIP2 if you don't use the certificate before expiration, but will only send you two of the less-user-friendly VIPOWs (which is still nice of AA to do).

Forgive me if this is a bit of topic, but perhaps one of you experts can help me. I just made MM at AA and converted my upgrades to VIPOWs. I made a reservation last month for an ORD-LHR flight and was upgraded using miles.
1) Can I use these upgrades for this flight?
2) If yes, is it in a different inventory class, thus requiring me to call the Plat desk to change this?
Sorry about theses questions; I am a 1K and usually fly UA but I need my Plat requalification and need these flights. And if it ain't in Business or First, I ain't going!! Meals That Heal Inflammation.::

I agree with AAPlatinum's response to check with the desk--they're the only ones that can give you an authoritative answer. However, they're both booked in "C", so you *should* be fine.
STAM4NICK, your VIP2 reissued ticket will be in J class (unless you're buying a J class and upgrading to P/F).
iluv2fly, you can use the VIPOWs to upgrade your ORD-LHR flights as long as they are the systemwide version. I'd double check the Platinum Desk if you want to change the upgrade "payment" type.
You can change dates but you cannot reroute your ticket on a VIP2. Changing dates do not require ticket reissue. Credit Repair & Debt Collection Success Strategies Membership.::

There are a few separate things going on.
First, VIP2's are handled differently than VIPOW's. When you use a VIP2, the ticket is actually re-issued in the new booking class, with a ticket designator of /VIP2. The agent doesn't need to note that you gave them the cert in the record because the ticket coupons (eletronic or paper) will have the ticket designator on them showing that you gave them the VIP2.
As far as changing the reservation, that's where it gets tricky. Rule #4 under the T&C on the back says, "A ticket issued against this certificate may not be reissued once travel has commenced. Open tickets may not be issued." So, technically, you can not change your return, as any change of itinerary on an int'l ticket does require the ticket to be re-issued.
The reality is a bit different. I've had VIP2 tickets re-issued. I've never run into a problem doing it. However, the agents have always been nice about it. The rules say you can't do it.
So, overall, I'd say do it at your own risk.
