What do you think is the most harmful drug, have you ever done drugs, do you like them, do you drink? Opinions about them? Do you think pot should be legal? Personally, I do, cigarettes are worse, they actually kill and yet they are legal, alcohol is legal at 19/21/w/e, and it kills, pot don't kill.... what do you think?
What someone does to their own body is their business. I'd say the most harmful drug is meth. You ever seen mug shots of meth addicts? They look messed up. I have used marijuana regularly since high school, I tried cocaine in high school, didn't like it, tried LSD once, just freaked the **** out of me. I think that there is a double standard. Smoking cigarettes is far more health hazardous and far more addictive than smoking pot. Alcohol is also a dangerous substance. I think that if the government is going to ban something because it is a dangerous substance, they can't half *** it. If they are going to make smoking pot illegal, then they should make smoking cigarettes, cigars, and chewing tobacco illegal as well.
All drugs should be legal. From one point of view you have the argument that it is no one's business what a person puts into their body except that person. This is a pretty good argument all by itself.
However, if you're a collectivist who thinks that "the good of society" goes above individual free will, then here's another argument: Nearly all of the negative side effects of drug use and addiction are caused by the fact that they are illegal. If drugs were legal, people would overdose less because they would have accurate information about how much they have and how much they're taking. There would be less spread of disease and less rampant addiction because drug use would not have to be done in secret and those falling into addiction would be noticed by others, and clean needles could be easily acquired.
If junkies could keep a steady supply of their drug of choice and not have to wonder where or how they were going to get their next fix, they wouldn't have to turn to crime to do it. If they weren't stigmatized for using drugs or fired from jobs for drugs they took (while at home, not at work, due to a random drug test), they could actually hold down a job to PAY for their drugs. Instead, we just pay for them to sit in prisons with our tax money - brilliant.
The sale of drugs only supports gangs and terrorism because, yep!, it's illegal. If it were legal much more efficient businesses would start doing it and bam, organized crime gets pushed out of the picture. Why don't gangs sell cars or pencil sharpeners or hamburgers? Because they're legal, and someone is already selling them and doing a better job of it! They're a wate of money and they hurt those closest to you.
they are illegal
although if i were in jail getting pumped in the butt by big bubba, i would want all the drugs i could get my hands on.
Hey guy below me, have you ever seen what happens to somebody on crack? u ask why don't gangbangers and terrorists sell hamburgers and pencil sharpeners, because people don't get addicted to pencil sharpeners. Nobody lost their home, family, kids, due to pencil sharpeners. Nobody became addicted to the 'grind' or the 'twirl' like they do with drugs. Also, u think it's only the terrorists who profit from the drug war? How many civilian police officers have jobs due to the drug war? It's an international business. And the illegality of it keeps hundreds of thousands of people employed.
nicotine in all forms is probably the worst, alcohol a close second, followed by methamphetamine
weed should be legal, less dangerous that alcohol, not addictive like cigarettes, huge untapped tax base.
But then again weed leads to thinking, and thus might led to independent thought, instead of numbness, and we can't have the people thinking for themselves, they might relize how bad they are being screwed.
The most harmful drug out there is a designer drug combination of apathy, ignorance, peer-pressure, stupidity, over indulgence, boredom, and misguided sense of what is "Cool".
I've tried drugs until, I realized a few things:
People intoxicated on drugs or alcohol are boring as hell.
Drugs are EXPENSIVE!
In very short order, drugs control the user, not the other way around.
It's one thing to get picked arrested for being drunk on beer, or for under-age alcohol use; but its a whole different ball game when you substitute "Heroin" "Cocaine" or "Methamphetamine" for "Beer" or "Wine" or "Whiskey" on a School Transcript, or Job Application.
Should pot be legal? Only for Cancer & Glaucoma Patients when prescribed by a Physcian. (And YES - pot does kill - just as alcohol can kill - by imparing the judgement and abilities, and decision making process and reaction time of people driving, operating heavy equipment, or other similar jobs).
I consider all tobacco products to be health hazards, and they should NOT be subsidized by the Government; but they have not been made illegal yet.
Alcohol being legal at 18 / 21 is OK by me - when used responsibly, - just like automobiles, Big Macs, french fries, motorcycles, hunting rifles, hand guns, & shotguns.
i love this question. i agree that pot should be legal because if you think about it, there is a lot of other stuff out there that is way more harmful and legal. alcohol is a legal drug and cigarettes are legal and there is actual proof of how lethal it can be. and plus, if the government was smart they would legalize pot, tax it and make a killing. yes i have done drugs and that part of my life is coming to an end. i have smoked pot for ten years, i have done coke and ecstasy and i drank (sometimes heavily). now, here is my take on doing drugs. they are fine in moderation and depending on what drug it is. dont be an idiot and just take any and everything. know the people you buy from, the people you do it with and what the hell it is you're taking. stay at home or someplace safe when you do it the first couple of times until you know what its gonna be like. now, im fine with the stuff i do and how much of it i do because i have followed the afore mentioned advice and i also know myself and i know that i do not have an addictive personality and i have self control. i know that i make a conscious choice to do it, how much i can handle and when and how to stop doing it. for me doing drugs was recreational and not an addiction and i had enough control to not let it get to that point. if people cannot have the same approach to drugs, they they should not do them or quit while they are ahead. i got to a point where it just wasnt fun anymore and didnt like the way they made me feel. besides that, i also have to consider my future and for the time being that does not include drugs or alcohol and hopefully not tobacco either.
