My instructor's anglo-arab mare is 31 years old and was in great condition until she had a rather bizarre accident (she fell into a bath tub. No, really, she literally fell into an actual bath tub) two years ago. Every time I've seen her she's hobbled around. she can't walk in a straight line or even stand straight. For a while her owner was on the verge of putting her down and was just waiting for the mare to say she wasn't enjoying life anymore.

She's improved a lot. It's actually really funny. This mare will spring forward, throw a few bucks, whirl around and race across the fenceline. Then she'll hobble forward in a crooked line. Then she'll rear and boss the other horses around and demand to be let into the arena by leaping around the gate. Then she'll stop and wobble on her leg.
She's got a vet looking after her and everything, I'm just curious what you guys think about this or if you'd seen anything like it. Maybe the pain's gone but her muscles have developed crooked and that makes her move weird? bjork.com : gigOgraphy::

Well, I actually think her behavior may be an indication that she is in pain, and is keeping the other horses away from her. Horses don't show pain the same way as humans. Some become cranky and aloof. I have a hard time believing that she is moving like that and not in pain.
