| | hello guys this is my first post, anyways i have been using this wonderful software as we know of xbmc for about 2 years. i really never had a big problem until now, my problem is that when i try to boot toca race driver 3 off of my hdd it would sit on a black screen and just hang there, when i hit the eject button the xbox restarts itself therefore putting it self back into the xbmc360 dashboard. im not sure if i have the pal or ntsc version of the game....

i copied the game to my hdd using dvd2xbox and the problem occured... so i wondered maybe xbmc is having trouble reading the files, so then i opened up unleashx and evox and the game would sit there and hang until i pressed the eject button.
so i then deleted all the files from e:/games/tocaracedriver3/ and copied it back there using the file explorer from xbmc, by locating the dvd files on the left side on the screen and locating e:/games/ on the right and then copying over... the problem still occurs.

but, i cant get the xbmc.xbe and xml over, the directory will transfer but those Anyone install XBMC? Im having so video playback problems.

so i put the burnt dvd of toca race driver 3 in my dvd drive after taking out and the xbox plays it perfectly.... :veryangry:

i misread that post, solo0815 i already have toca race driver 3 on a sony dvd-r, my xbox reads it perfectly. i just want it on my hdd like i have all my games...
copy the game with the newest dvd2xbox in iso-mode (_not_ in file-mode), burn the iso to a dvd -> it works ;)
how does that resolve playing it form the harddrive then?

this is not a xbmc problem.
this is a overall limitation with fatx which is the 'file system' that the xbox uses.
although technically this is not a problem with fatx but the game toca.
fatx, like fat follows the 8.3 naming rule which states that files should not have a name longer that 8 characters with a 3 character extention.
within the toca games there is always a files that is about 20 characters long which can't be copied to the hdd or if it is then it will be renamed, so the game won't work.
iso 9660 is the file system that dvd's use and i believe that the xbox's is similar, it has no such limitation so the game will work file.
there may be a work around for this such as a hdd fix but i don't play the game so have never looked into it.
to put it simply, you will not be able to play toca off the hdd without going to special measures.
