Thought I'd post here to see if anyone had any recommendations for a youth hostel in Paris. There appears to be quite a few in/around the area. I've never been to Paris, and I'm finding it quite difficult to choose. I'd like it to be a 'not too far out of the way' area. Other than that, I'm not too picky. Any recommendations?
I actually planned on staying at Le Village near the Anvers Subway Station in the 18th district. i switched when Priceline found a hotel for me and the wife for the same price. Had Priceline not come through for me, I wouldn't have had any problems staying there.

which has hostel reviews for all of Europe. Some are a bit extreme, but some are pretty useful. Check it out.
Try the BVJ hostels (http://www.bvjhotel.com).
I've stayed at both the louvre and the latin quarter locations. Both are near metro lines and easy walking to a lot of sights. I personally prefer the Latin Quarter one. You can only make reservations by phone, and must reconfirm the day prior to arrival. A shared room runs 27 and if you can snag a single its 30 . The singles are pretty hard to come by though.

Consider hotel grand levaque. Not a hostel, but a very decent 2 star, with good prices & location. On a market street, block & a half off subway, 6 blocks from eiffel tower, maybe 10 from arche de triumphe. There should be a link to it on the frommers website.
