It seems that the line up to buy the $15.00 AIF fee at YUL will be soon a thing of the past. ADM would annonce soon that the arrangement have been made to include it in the ticket price like in YYZ.
It will certainly expedite the security check in process.
What kind of cut would airlines get for collecting on the AIF on the airport's behalf? Is it revenue generating or does it simply cover the admin costs?
Now they not only get to unload the cost of collecting the fee on the airlines/TAs, but also make it look like the airfare is increasing. combined stock list the book searchers 0506:: First edition. All I remember is that when YEG started to get its "airport" improvement fee included in the tickets, it went from an even $10 (GST included) to $10.70 (GST now charged on top of the $10)... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif

Hurray! Now only YVR as the last major Canadian airport that doesn't include it.
a reminder....
Aéroports de Montreal to include Airport Improvement Fee in the cost of airline tickets. All passengers leaving from Montreal-Dorval and Montreal-Mirabel Airports must contribute to purchase an Airport Improvement Fee (AIF) ticket. Aéroports de Montréal uses these funds to finance the work at the airports. In an effort to improve customer satisfaction, Aéroports de Montréal recently announced that it has reached an agreement with all air carriers under which the AIF will now be included in the cost of the airline tickets. This new collection method goes into effect Jan.15 for all flights scheduled to leave as of March 31. For flights departing from now until March 31, travellers will continue to purchase their AIF ticket separately.
If you want to bring it back down to $10 (without the GST), be sure not to vote Liberal in the next election.
